The broad-ranging partnership includes the expansion of Sony’s Hawk-Eye Innovations’ sports technology, Sony as the official headphones of the NFL, and more
The National Football League and Sony announced today a partnership naming Sony as an official technology partner of the NFL, as well as the new official headphones of the NFL.
In a groundbreaking collaboration, Sony and the NFL will unite efforts with coaches, players, teams, and organizational leaders to revolutionize football’s future. Central to this partnership is the enhancement of Sony’s sports technology, particularly through Hawk-Eye Innovations, which will bolster officiating and introduce advanced on-field and sideline technologies, including a cutting-edge coach’s sideline headset set to debut in the 2025 season.
This partnership will see the NFL and Sony working closely to develop this new headset, which will enhance coach-to-coach communication on the field. These headsets will be powered by Verizon Business’ Managed Private Wireless Solution, operating on Verizon’s robust 5G network.
Sony’s Hawk-Eye tracking services will be employed to improve the accuracy of game-critical elements such as line-to-gain measurements. Additionally, Sony’s Beyond Sports and its real-time visualization expertise will engage the next generation of NFL fans.
“Building upon a long-standing relationship, the NFL is excited to welcome Sony as an official technology partner,” said Gary Brantley, CIO of the NFL. “Advancing technology both on and off the field is a priority for the NFL. This partnership will enhance Sony’s role in our technology ecosystem, elevate various aspects of our sport, and bring fans closer to the game-day experience. From expanding Hawk-Eye technology to integrating Sony’s advanced imaging products and launching new coaches’ headsets in 2025, the NFL will leverage Sony’s expertise to drive innovation and solidify our status as a premier sports organization.”
This new partnership exemplifies Sony’s deep integration in NFL games, covering everything from sideline photography and broadcast cameras to officiating support and enhanced in-stadium fan experiences.

“We are dedicated to creating the future of sports through technology and constantly innovating to benefit players, coaches, and fans,” said Neal Manowitz, President and COO of Sony Electronics North America. “From professional photography and broadcast capture to advanced line-to-gain tracking and upgraded in-stadium experiences, our commitment remains strong. This partnership, built on years of integration with the NFL, allows us to pursue our shared passions with one of the world’s largest sports organizations.”
Sony’s technology captures some of the NFL’s most memorable moments, delivering the excitement and unpredictability of the game with precision. Hawk-Eye technology supports the NFL Officiating Department in reviewing and making critical rulings on plays. Future collaborations will focus on developing next-generation officiating technology leveraging Hawk-Eye’s optical tracking to ensure game integrity. Additionally, Hawk-Eye’s data, combined with player tracking data from the NFL’s Next Gen Stats and Sony’s Beyond Sports visualization technology, will create new real-time content opportunities, such as the Emmy-winning “Toy Story Funday Football” alternate game presentation.

Since 2020, Sony has been the exclusive imaging provider for The Associated Press, a trusted global news source, producing iconic images of NFL moments. Sony cameras are also used by NFL broadcast partners like CBS Sports, ESPN, FOX Sports, and NBC Sports, including Super Bowl coverage.
Sony’s products and technologies are extensively used in NFL stadiums nationwide, with further expansion potential as teams enhance in-game experiences for fans. The new NFL Network studios in Inglewood, California, have transitioned many operations and cameras to Sony technology, supporting shows like “Good Morning Football” and “NFL GameDay Morning.”
This partnership will enable the NFL and Sony to create new opportunities within football through technology, continuing to evolve the game to maximize engagement and enjoyment for fans, coaches, and players alike.
