In response to a recent congressional committee’s decision to ban certain books and resources for LGBTQ+ federal employees, Dr. Steve Yacovelli, also known as “The Gay Leadership Dude®,” has taken a remarkable step. He has chosen to offer his queer leadership training, which complements one of the banned books, to any U.S. agency affected by such bans. The controversial amendment, put forth by Rep. Lauren Boebert (R-CO) and passed on September 23rd, restricts the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) from utilizing funds to procure materials related to LGBT issues in the workplace, professional success for LGBT individuals, and support for LGBTQ+ employees, among other prohibitions. This move has sparked outrage within the LGBTQ+ community and its allies.
Dr. Yacovelli’s response to this ban is to provide his LGBTQ+ leadership training program free of charge to U.S. agencies impacted by similar bans. The training program is founded on his award-winning book, “Pride Leadership: Strategies for the LGBTQ+ Leader to be the King or Queen of their Jungle” (2019), one of the resources specifically targeted in the Boebert amendment.
“I am deeply disheartened and disappointed by the passage of this amendment,” Dr. Yacovelli expressed. “It’s a clear attack on the LGBTQ+ community, and I wanted to take action. That’s why I am offering my queer leadership training for free, which is valued at $997, to any employee of U.S. agencies affected by bans like these. I believe that everyone should have access to the tools and resources they need to become successful leaders, regardless of political maneuvers and pandering, such as Boebert’s amendment, which is discriminatory against the LGBTQ+ community.”
Dr. Yacovelli’s book, “Pride Leadership,” serves as a comprehensive guide to empower LGBTQ+ and ally leaders. It covers crucial topics such as empathy, effective communication, and authenticity in the workplace, offering practical advice on how to excel as a leader. Yacovelli added, “I believe that if Boebert and her team had actually read my book, especially the chapter on empathetic leadership, this ban might never have been proposed in the first place.”
“I penned ‘Pride Leadership’ to assist LGBTQ+ individuals in becoming more effective leaders,” Dr. Yacovelli emphasized. “I want to ensure that everyone has access to the tools and resources they need to succeed, regardless of where they work.”
Dr. Yacovelli’s queer leadership training is available to any U.S. agency impacted by similar bans. For additional details, please visit www.PrideLeadership.com. You can find the book, “Pride Leadership,” on Amazon or at www.SteveOnAmazon.com.
