G2A.COM partners with Papaya New Directors to support emerging talent

The largest global marketplace for digital products, G2A.COM, has partnered with Papaya New Directors, a competition that reveals the latest talented young creators. To celebrate its 10th edition, creators were required to submit a short video application in the first phase for the opportunity to be selected for the main competition to create film treatments for its partners.

As one of the partners, G2A.COM will be supporting a young director to create a film about an adventure-filled digital world, bringing G2A.COM’s ‘Gate 2 Adventure’ mission to life reaching people worldwide.

As a leading global marketplace for digital products such as games and software, G2A.COM wanted to inspire creators to develop a film format Papaya New Directors had never seen before. How exactly? By creating a challenge tailor-made to promote imagination and give voice to a generation that has never known a world without the internet. The challenge was to create a concept that merges both references to modern pop culture and current trends with a unique creative perspective on the future of new technologies.

“We can already say that the concept we’re creating with G2A.COM is a huge opportunity and a dream challenge for the talented creators – not just the experienced ones who have already contributed to major productions, but also for those who are the voice of the new generation, sharing its fresh and unconventional outlook on reality.” says Kacper Sawicki, Founder & President, Papaya Films.

After much deliberation, G2A.COM, together with the Plej agency, has selected Jan Dybus for the project. Dybus is an unconventional creator of the younger generation whose portfolio includes the very well-received miniseries Wilk. Its unique and unusual perception of reality will perfectly highlight not just the increasingly democratic world of digital entertainment but also the bold, trailblazing direction of G2A.COM as a brand. G2A.COM is on a mission to include everyone in the digital world, regardless of their age, gender, or nationality. This collaboration is yet another step in reaching gamers and digital entertainment consumers of all backgrounds.

“The upcoming G2A.COM campaign will present the world with our new strategy and brand positioning for the coming years. It’s also the most advanced and demanding in terms of competition and gaining the customers’ trust and hearts.” says Mona Kinal, G2A.COM’s CMO.

“The new communication platform inspiring Jan’s creative will highlight the meaning behind ‘Gate 2 Adventure’ – the democratisation of digital entertainment for anyone, anywhere. We strongly believe that G2A.COM will accompany users on this digital journey and advise them on how to make the most out of the experience. For this purpose, we gathered an international and experienced team of creators who ensure production will match the highest standards. For the creation of the content, we’ll tap into the latest trends, like AI using tools enabling users to play with different forms of expression, such as MidJourney. Modern consumers expect the highest quality of content and emotions, and we are going to provide it all.”

The G2A.COM collaboration with Papaya New Directors is supported by a remarkable group of internationally recognised talent and experts to ensure the highest quality of productions. Cinematography is in the hands of Catherine Derry (The Great, Industry, Choose or Die). Editing is handled by Vee Pinot – a lead editor from the New York City-based editing studio Gramercy Park Studios, who realised projects for the largest global brands – and Krystian Łupiński. Postproduction is given to studios Juice (animation, online), Vein (grading), and Ztudio&Burza (audio).

The main competition runs until October 2023 and will see all selected participants create a film treatment for one of Papaya New Directors partner. All films produced in collaboration with its partners will be in the running for the Papaya New Directors grand prize, including both a cash and physical prize. Judging will take place in November, followed by a Gala and winners’ announcement at the end of 2023.
