Bitwave Games Shoots More than Cupid’s Arrow, Launching Toaplan Arcade Shoot ‘Em Up Collection Vol.1

 

Bitwave Games, a video game developer and publisher specialising in retro entertainment and part of Embracer Freemode, announced the launch of the long-awaited Toaplan Arcade Shoot ‘Em Up Collection Vol.1 arriving on Steam® and GOG®.

The first of four volumes in a new collection of acclaimed shooting treasures, the Toaplan Arcade Shoot ‘Em Up Collection Vol.1 features four incredible shooter classics and is the result of a partnership between Bitwave Games and Japanese developer Tatsujin. With a total of sixteen games planned across the four volumes, this project is a labour of love with the teams working tirelessly to maintain arcade accuracy and add a wealth of quality to life features. 

The titles available as part of Toaplan Arcade Shoot ‘Em Up Collection Vol.1 are:

  • Zero Wing – Legendary co-op shooter with stunning original soundtrack from composers Tatsuya Uemura, Masahiro Yuge, and Toshiaki Tomizawa.
  • Out Zone – Run-and-gun alone or with a buddy in this bonafide hit featuring a unique weapon system, and killer soundtrack!
  • Twin Cobra – Battle hostile battleships solo or in co-op with the world’s fastest attack chopper!
  • Truxton – Adrenaline filled legendary shooter has you defeating alien hordes across massive stages in this vertically scrolling shooter masterpiece.

While meticulous in their commitment to the high levels of authenticity the games deserve, Bitwave Games also added a range of enhancements and options designed to offer the modern gamer new ways to experience these classics.

Each game features quick save/resume, online leader boards for single credit players, no assist and assisted modes, as well as Achievements for gamers wanting to achieve bragging rights! For those wishing to share their skills, a capture option has been included that enables players to share their shooting progress online. The full list of impressive quality of life features includes:

  • Quality-focused features such as minimal input lag, input processing, and rendering all complete on the same frame.
  • Instrument Panels featuring additional gameplay information and artwork.
  • Rewind feature allowing gamers to rewind between 10-18 minutes of play.
  • Assist features facilitating options such as auto-fire.

  • Rotate option allowing the action to be rotated in 90-degree increments.
