1. Kimi Raikkonen
The notoriously inanimate ‘Iceman’ that is Kimi Raikkonen is revealed to be the most popular Finn with the highest popularity number out of all other Finns. There are currently 535.4 million TikTok views on videos with the hashtag ‘Kimi Raikkonen’.
Raikkonen had the second-highest number of Instagram followers at 2.8 million. Now retired, Kimi was once one of the most talked about drivers in Formula One due to his frequently documented private life being sensationalised by the media.
He famously entered a powerboat race under the alias ‘James Hunt’ whilst wearing a gorilla costume to protect his identity. The sharp-witted Finn would respond to public scrutiny with this quote: “What I do in my private life doesn’t make me drive any slower”.
In 2007, this quote proved to be true as he ended up winning the world championship with Ferrari. Clearly, Kimi is still a massive icon even today, with an estimated 318,000 online global searches for him every month.
2. Valtteri Bottas
In second place is another Formula One driver, Valtteri Bottas. Bottas comes out on top with a sizeable Instagram following of 3.5 million people. The current Alfa Romero driver hasn’t won any world championships yet; however, he has stood on the podium 67 times and entered 200 Grand Prix races. Born in Nastola, Bottas learnt to drive on dangerously icy roads before taking to the Formula One tracks worldwide.

4. Mika Hakkinen
In fourth place is yet another Formula One legend, Mika Hakkinen. Nicknamed the ‘Flying Finn’, Hakkinen won two Formula One World Championships in 1998 and 1999 for Mclaren. 6. Tove Jansson
In sixth place is Moomin creator Tove Jansson. The Helsinki-born author and cartoonist passed away in 2001 but left behind her legacy of books and artworks.

7. Teemu Pukki
The seventh most popular Finn is Norwich City football player Teemu Pukki. Pukki has made the headlines this week as his first-minute goal secured the team fourth place in the championship.

Selanne has the fifth highest Instagram followers out of anyone else on the list at 415,000.
9. Saara Aalto
Saara Aalto is the ninth most popular celebrity born in Finland. The Finnish singer is famous for her appearances on the UK X Factor, The Voice of Finland and her representation of Finland in the 2011 Eurovision song contest.
The singer is still a popular Finnish icon with 122,000 Instagram followers and a monthly global search volume of 12,000 every month.
10. Aleksander Barkov
The tenth most popular Finnish celebrity is Aleksander Barkov, captain of the Florida Panthers of the National Hockey League. Barkov is the all-time top-scoring active Finnish player in the NHL.
The ice hockey player has a respectable 131,000 followers on Instagram and 19,000 total Wikipedia page visits.
A spokesperson from Bonusetu.com commented on the study:
“It is nice to see a mixture of professions on the list, but sports personalities seem to be the most popular celebrities to come from Finland. Finland has produced many successful Formula One drivers, and even those who have retired have more global popularity than other Finnish personalities. It will be interesting to see if any young Finnish drivers gain the same popularity in the future.”
