Christine GZ’s Road to Recovery – The Mental Challenges

“Every athlete should have a neuro trainer. This physical injury has given me a chance to concentrate on my mental strength and capacity and it is incredible how it can be so positive.”

Veloce Racing’s Christine GZ went from being at the wheel of the quickest car on track in Qualifying for the Extreme E Season 2 opener in NEOM in February, to finding herself upside down in a destroyed car and with a fractured foot.

From hero to zero, her return to full fitness has been a long journey both physically and mentally.

Veloce Racing and Christine GZ have diarised her recovery, highlighting the demands of coping with the aftermath of such a dramatic accident and how a neuro coach has helped her to deal with its mental impact.

Christine’s experience sheds light on the importance of treating mental trauma caused by such incidents on highly tuned athletes that are assumed to be immune to such setbacks.

Released during Mental Health Awareness Week, this short video explores Christine’s road to recovery – physically and mentally – giving an insight into how such an accident can affect mental wellbeing.
