Mississauga will be home to Canada’s most transformative mixed-use waterfront development

MISSISSAUGA, Ontario–(BUSINESS WIRE)–Lakeview Community Partners Limited is pleased to announce that the master plan for Lakeview Village, a vibrant waterfront mixed use community, has been endorsed by the City of Mississauga’s Planning and Development Committee and City Council.

This 177-acre development will transform the way people live, visit and experience Lake Ontario through its thoughtful design and mix of housing, retail, office and recreational programming of unparalleled comparison.

“This is an exciting milestone in the transformation of Mississauga’s waterfront. We are honoured to receive the endorsement of Mississauga’s Planning and Development Committee and City Council,” said Fabio Mazzocco, President of Lakeview Community Partners Limited.

“We are thrilled to have received the unanimous support of the City of Mississauga Planning and Development Committee and we’re excited to begin bringing Lakeview Village to life,” said Brian Sutherland, Director of Development for Argo Development Corporation, and development lead for Lakeview Village. “The collaboration among partners on this project is unprecedented, and I want to thank every member of our interdisciplinary team for their hard work as we move into the next phase of development. We would also like to thank the community for their interest, input and enthusiasm throughout this initial planning phase. The feedback we have received has been crucial as we take Lakeview Village from idea to reality.”

The project will be developed on the site of the decommissioned Lakeview coal-fired power plant, creating a model in sustainable mixed-use development. The 177-acre project will include thousands of residential units, up to 200,000 square feet of prime space for unique retail and restaurant experiences, and employment space for thousands of long-term jobs located in a new innovation employment district, while providing Mississauga residents and visitors access to this portion of the Lake Ontario waterfront for the first time in decades.

“I am pleased that we are one step closer to creating liveable, walkable communities connecting the lakeshore from east to west,” said Mayor Bonnie Crombie. “The transformation of our waterfront will drive tourism, foster innovation, spur economic growth and attract a new generation to Mississauga. Few cities in the world have the opportunity to develop 250 acres of their waterfront. The potential here is enormous. As we continue to work together, our vision to create a world-class waterfront will become a reality.”

When complete, Lakeview Village will feature a continuous waterfront through the development of 3.5 kilometers of waterfront trail, connecting existing parks east and west of the community. The project will incorporate diverse housing, along with dedicated cycling routes, pedestrian pathways and connections to transit. A dynamic cultural and recreational hub, the development will combine indoor and outdoor venues and year-round programming, shops and restaurants with unique open space and streetscape elements to create a central gathering place for the community. Lakeview Village will be a highly livable neighbourhood and an all-season waterfront destination on the shores of Lake Ontario.
