NEW YORK–(BUSINESS WIRE)–The 28th Annual Baron Investment Conference drew over 5,000 Baron Funds’ shareholders today at the Metropolitan Opera House at Lincoln Center in New York City.

Baron Capital Group, at its own expense, presents the event to Baron Funds shareholders in recognition for their support of the Baron investment team and process, and provides entertainment in appreciation. This year’s surprise performer was Fleetwood Mac, following performances earlier in the day by Mariah Carey, Steve Carell and Stephen Colbert, and ballet dancer Misty Copeland.

Shareholders of the 16 Baron Funds were invited to the all-day conference, which included presentations from four CEOs of businesses in which the funds have invested and concurrent Q&A sessions with Baron Funds’ portfolio managers.

Presenting at the conference this year were:

* Robyn Denholm, Chairman, Tesla, Inc.

* Rachel R. Stern, Head of Strategic Resources and General Counsel, FactSet Research Systems, Inc.

* Bruce Flatt, Chief Executive Officer, Brookfield Asset Management

* Gwynne Shotwell, President and Chief Operating Officer, SpaceX

CNBC’s “Squawk Box” broadcast live from the conference, featuring interviews with Baron Capital Group Chairman and CEO Ron Baron, Ms. Denholm, Mr. Flatt, and Henry Fernandez, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of MSCI.

The afternoon session kicked off with a panel discussion by Baron Funds’ portfolio managers, and was followed by remarks from Baron Capital Group President Linda Martinson. Mr. Baron also gave a presentation, followed by a Q&A with conference attendees.

“At Baron, we exhaustively research the companies we invest in for long term growth. We’ve held some of our investments for 25-30 years. And we think mutual fund investors need to think in those terms as well,” said Mr. Baron. “Investors get great long-term results by patiently staying invested in the market and investing in dynamic growth companies–that’s what we do at Baron. For 28 years, Baron Funds shareholders have attended our conference to hear directly from CEOs of the companies in which we invest, as well as Baron Fund managers, so shareholders can get a feel for what we do. We’re delighted to treat shareholders to first-class entertainment, but for everyone on the Baron investment team, interacting with Baron funds’ shareholders is the most important thing we do at the conference. We look forward to seeing everyone back next year for the 29th annual conference.”

The Baron Funds’ investment team includes Ron Baron, portfolio manager of Baron Growth Fund, Baron Partners Fund, Baron Focused Growth Fund, and Baron Wealth Builder Fund; Cliff Greenberg, portfolio manager of Baron Small Cap Fund; Alex Umansky, portfolio manager of Baron Fifth Avenue Growth Fund, Baron Global Advantage Fund, and Baron Durable Advantage Fund; Mike Lippert, portfolio manager of Baron Opportunity Fund; Andrew Peck, portfolio manager of Baron Asset Fund; Michael Kass, portfolio manager of Baron International Growth Fund and Baron Emerging Markets Fund; Jeff Kolitch, portfolio manager of Baron Real Estate Fund and Baron Real Estate Income Fund, Laird Bieger and Randy Gwirtzman, portfolio managers of Baron Discovery Fund, Neal Kaufman, portfolio manager of Baron Health Care Fund. Linda Martinson is a 30-year Baron veteran and serves as the firm’s president.
