Mary Chocolate Co. Ltd., a Japanese confectionary manufacturer and seller founded in 1950, will run a booth to display its brand “Tokyo Chocolate” at “Salon du Chocolat Paris,” the world’s largest chocolate exhibition to be held from October 31 to November 4, 2018.
Although “Tokyo Chocolate” has constantly been showcasing its cutting-edge chocolate modes to the world, it bases their concept on “Tokyo,” the city which coexists with merchant culture built from old times.
This year’s exhibition concept is “NEW TOKYO JAPONISM”
It has been 160 years since Japan began to have friendly relations with France. Japanese culture featuring ukiyoe (woodblock prints), pottery and the like exhibited at the 1867 Paris Exposition was received with astonishment by the French people of that time and has influenced artists ever since.
Tokyo Chocolate has been building the field of “Chocolate of Wa (Japanese style)” by blending Japanese ingredients and chocolate together in Paris. Learning from Japanese tradition, Tokyo Chocolate will unveil “NEW TOKYO JAPONISM” — the chocolate for a new era in Paris. It will take part in Espace Japon, an event certified by Japonismes 2018 and introduce the following rose-themed chocolates.
Introducing the exhibits
This expresses through chocolate the feeling of presenting a bouquet of roses to celebrate the 160th anniversary in 2018 of the Japanese-French friendship.
2. Green perilla and strawberries
Japanese herb “green perilla” and a strawberry variety called “Skyberry” are used.
3. Red vinegar
Chocolate using red vinegar, traditional Japanese vinegar, and cooking sake (rice wine).
4. Five-flavor praline
Good aspects of “five flavors” people can taste — acidity, sweetness, umami (palatability), saltiness and bitterness — are collected into one piece.

Fourth edition of India Art Festival is held
India Art Festival (IAF), a big gala of world’s art, was held at Thyagaraj Stadium in New Delhi on November 22–25. The grand event attracted over 500 artists from 40 cities through its 35 art galleries. The even displayed all kind of arts: painting, sculptures, photography, ceramics, textiles and installations from rural India to metro cities.
The event, which is conducted by the publishers of Indian Contemporary Art Journal, was first held in 2011.
The focus of this year’s event was the work and performance of 100 independent artists from cities like Chennai, Jammu, Tripura and Ahmedabad. The independent artists include mid-career, established as well as emerging artists.
IAF also offered a venue for budding artists to showcase their talent.
Rajendra, the director of India Art Festival, said: “The art scene in Delhi has become event-driven, with bigger art events drawing in more crowds than solo or group exhibitions in individual art galleries. Economical art fairs – in terms of participation cost – are easy for exhibitors to take part in and recover basic participation cost, hence they participate every year. Almost 90% of art galleries and 60% of artists are repeat participants in India Art Festival; this growth is phenomenal in such trying times.”

Amsterdam’s Moco Museum Brings Art to Life with Augmented Reality App

Today, Moco Museum is launching ‘Moco Play’, a new augmented reality app. The free app overlays a selection of the museum’s modern artworks with interactive digital content and is available for iOS and Android. Visitors can point their mobile phones or tablets at the artworks of the likes of Icy & Sot, Andy Warhol, Yayoi Kusama and Keith Haring and watch them come to life on their screens. The app launches after a period of growth for the Amsterdam-based museum, having recently welcomed its millionth visitor.
