Firm is Investigating Claims that Ford Motor Company Deliberately
Misrepresented Fuel Economy Ratings for the 2019 Ford Ranger Truck

LOS ANGELES–(BUSINESS WIRE)–Today, the national law firm of Baron & Budd announced an investigation
of vehicle manufacturer Ford Motor Company concerning falsified fuel
economy ratings for the 2019 Ford Ranger truck.

On April 26, 2019, a criminal investigation was launched by the
Department of Justice into Ford’s emission certification process.
According to news reports, “Ford has said that its own employees raised
concerns about its emissions certification testing, the results of which
also are used to calculate a vehicle’s EPA gas mileage ratings.”

Baron & Budd is now investigating whether Ford used the claims of fuel
efficiency to sell its vehicles, and whether Ford deceived consumers by
misrepresenting the factors used in its vehicle certification testing to
get better results. While the alleged cheating would be great for Ford’s
profits, it could depreciate the value of the vehicle creating a bigger
loss for the consumer.

“Lying to consumers for more profit is never acceptable,” said Baron &
Budd partner, Roland Tellis. “We are investigating this claim in an
effort to keep holding automakers accountable for defrauding consumers
and to promote more ethical behavior.”

Baron & Budd has a dedicated history of protecting the rights of people
in the arena of auto safety. The law firm represented vehicle owners in
the Volkswagen emission fraud lawsuit, which resulted in a class action
settlement of approximately $14 billion. Baron & Budd also helped
secured a $1.5 billion class action settlement in the Takata Airbag
Litigation.

If you bought or leased a 2019 model year Ford Ranger vehicle, you may
qualify to take legal action. Please call the national law firm of Baron
& Budd at 1-800-222-2766 to learn more.

Baron & Budd has the experience, support staff and resources to seek the
most compensation for your damages.

NativeScript 6.0 Drives Developer Experience and Extensibility as Well as Performance and Stability

Now supporting Angular 8 and Vue.js, NativeScript enables developers to reuse 70% of the application code written for a web application during the mobile app development process

BEDFORD, Mass.–(BUSINESS WIRE)–Progress (NASDAQ: PRGS), the leading provider of application development and digital experience technologies, today announced the latest advancements for NativeScript®, the open source framework for building truly native mobile apps with Angular, Vue.js, TypeScript and JavaScript. With a focus on developer experience, extensibility, performance and stability, the NativeScript 6.0 framework now offers an abundance of new advancements including support for the latest frameworks, new themes and faster build speeds.

“The latest release of NativeScript brings some amazing features for our enterprise customers,” said Dmitri Tcherevik, CTO, Progress. “Now developers will be able to ship updates faster, make even smaller app binaries, and the fastest delivery of cross-platform apps that are of the highest quality, providing the best user experience as demanded by our discerning users.”

Developer Experience and Extensibility

NativeScript has long supported 100% code sharing across iOS and Android. With NativeScript 6.0 the amount of code reuse between web and mobile has increased. NativeScript can achieve 70% code reuse across web and mobile, including support for PWAs. This shortens development and testing cycles for both web and mobile apps in production while ensuring consistency across digital channels. It also lowers the cost of development and maintenance for deployed applications.

In addition, NativeScript provides:

  • Support for Angular 8 and the new rendering engine, Ivy, for better files, compilation time and application performance
  • Full support for Vue.js, including feature parity for new functionality between Vue.js, Angular and Core frameworks as well as the use of all plugins developed for NativeScript. Mission critical support is available from Progress to complement the free support channels
  • Anew dark theme to coincide with the iOS dark mode that will be available with iOS 13
  • The ability to consume third-party libraries directly in iOS
  • The public release of the Hot Module Replacement which includes support for SASS files and script changes in Vue.js, support for Angular projects out of the box, as well as acknowledgment of file operations like adding or deleting files from a project’s structure.
  • Support for the new Android X library, enabling use of the latest features of the newest Android versions, when shipped

Performance and Stability

As developers continue to be tasked with more work under tighter deadlines, NativeScript eases this burden with greater performance and stability. NativeScript 6.0 now enables

  • 30% faster builds for Android and 10% faster startup time for iOS
  • “markingMode: none” is now an officially supported option of the Android runtime
  • New flexible layouts, like TabView, give users the ability to make more intricate layouts with less code
  • Faster go-to-market for new app versions because of a streamlined store approval process
  • Complete integration with the WebPack framework for all NativeScript apps ensuring the best file size and performance for any chosen architecture

Progress complements the open source version of NativeScript with several commercial models. NativeScript plays a key role in Progress® Kinvey®, a cloud-native app dev platform used to build omni-channel experiences that include native mobile apps. Progress also provides paid support plans, while training and professional services are delivered through a partner network.

NativeScript 6.0 is available today. For more information go to www.nativescript.org or to learn more about the market leading capabilities of NativeScript, read the “2019 Gartner Magic Quadrant for Multiexperience Development Platforms,” in which Progress is listed as a Leader.

Capita Real Estate and Infrastructure and Black & Veatch Joint Venture Wins Four-Year Environment Agency Framework

Business Wire

REDHILL, England–(BUSINESS WIRE)–Climate change and population growth mean that an average £1 billion per year will be spent on flood and coastal resilience measures, over the next 50 years, according to the Environment Agency (EA). As part of its strategy to protect communities the EA has awarded places on both of its Client Support Frameworks (CSF) to Capita Real Estate and Infrastructure and Black & Veatch joint venture (JV).

Both frameworks run for four years. Lot 1 encompasses engineering and technical support; Lot 2 includes carbon management and contract administration services.

Graham Sant, Managing Director – Infrastructure comments, “Capita has developed a strong team of expertise and capabilities in flood risk as well as environmental advisory services over the last four years on the WEM Framework. We are delighted to be working with Black & Veatch on this joint venture, and excited about developing this new offering together.”

“Black & Veatch has supported EA frameworks since 1997. For the new CSFs our expertise in data analytics and digital/artificial intelligence will complement our established consulting, and asset management capabilities,” added Mat Fairfax, Director of Black & Veatch’s professional services business.

Via CSFs the joint venture will help the EA deliver a programme of capital investment and enhancement works on flood defence assets, both fixed and active, as well as wider business requirements. The JV will work collaboratively to ensure sustainable, best-value outcomes for the communities the EA protects.

Notes to editors, Black & Veatch

  • CSFs replace the Water and Environment Management (WEM) framework as the EA’s main asset delivery vehicle. Black & Veatch served on both WEM and its National Engineering and Environmental Consultancy Agreement (NEECA) predecessor.
  • Black & Veatch is the professional services lead on the UK’s largest single flood defence project, the Environment Agency’s River Thames Scheme, which will reduce flood risk for up to 15,000 residential properties and 100,000m2 of commercial floor space.
  • Advanced data analytics and artificial intelligence are at the core of Black & Veatch’s work. In February 2019 the company teamed-up with EMAGIN to offer clients advanced operational intelligence, allied to hands-on asset management and engineering expertise.
  • In March 2019 Black & Veatch launched a Smart Maintenance business which builds upon the company’s technology led asset management consulting experience – and its programme management, logistics and delivery expertise – to create digitally enabled onsite maintenance teams.
