MuniRem Environmental has revealed its expansion plan to make the neutralization of explosive devices and hazardous materials a global endeavor

Duluth, Georgia–(Newsfile Corp. – September 4, 2023) – MuniRem Environmental, an agency specializing in the safe decontamination and destruction of explosive materials and waste, is planning to expand their company to work on additional remediation projects to create a safer environment across the world.

MuniRem solution, a remediation for groundwater and soil, buildings, and equipment that are contaminated with explosives residues is used to neutralize explosives that need to be safely destroyed with no environmental impact. Using MuniRem rapidly eliminates any explosives or dangerous substances remaining from previous detonations involving explosive materials. Various formulations of the MuniRem solution are available; (it can be incorporated into a particular procedure to ensure the best possible outcome for the intended objective).

To make the solution effective, it simply has to be mixed with water and subsequently applied to the material requiring remediation. The environmentally friendly process is quick and converts the materials into a non-hazardous substance that can be disposed of appropriately.

MuniRem was founded by Valentine Nzengung who graduated from Georgia State University with a degree in geology. He furthered his education with a PhD in environmental geochemistry and a masters in environmental engineering from the Georgia Institute of Technology. Nzengung began his career in explosive remediation when he was involved in a project with the U.S. Department of Defense to clean soil contaminated with perchlorate, which is an oxygen-adding compound used in the manufacturing of solid rocket fuel.

The company has achieved worldwide notoriety as a leader in the neutralizing bulk explosives and decontamination of explosives remnants. They collaborate with a diverse range of customers, including government agencies, environmental cleanup companies, and manufacturers of civil explosive materials. Nzengung is expanding the business to broaden its environmental reach in the cleanup of exploded munitions leftover from warfare that extends back decades.

MuniRem sends the chemical products to clients overseas, enabling them to commence the remediation process on their own. Nzengung plans to build more offices, mobile units, and to hire and train more personnel. Over ten trained Unexploded Ordnance Technicians (UXO Techs) and chemists are currently working locally for Nzengung, while he is hoping to increase this number worldwide. The sea is rarely considered in terms of neutralizing hazardous munitions. Nzengung states he would also develop the capabilities necessary to address and tackle this issue, following their expansion.

“MuniRem is a technology that can directly benefit humanity and the environment,” says Nzengung. “We all have the responsibility to keep the environment clean because we are all in this together. Most people don’t think about the legacy of war and the harmful materials that are left over, but we are working to make the world a safer place to live in by removing harmful explosives and contaminated substances from the environment.”
