Lifesaving Platform Coming to Wisconsin to Address the Addiction Crisis

MADISON, Wis.–(BUSINESS WIRE)–#betheproof–Wisconsin Department of Health Services Secretary-designee Kirsten Johnson; Rep. Shannon M. Zimmerman (R-WI); Sen. Devin LeMahieu (R-WI); Sen. Mary Felzkowski (R-WI); Wisconsin Attorney General Josh Kaul (D-WI); Shatterproof Founder and CEO Gary Mendell; and New York Times best-selling author Tom Farley will unveil a historical lifesaving tool on Tuesday, June 27 at 9 a.m. Central Standard Time. Together, they will announce Shatterproof programming that is being offered throughout Wisconsin to assist residents with substance use disorders, support those impacted by substance use disorders, and mobilize those in recovery. Additionally, Leigh Mills, award-winning NBC15 news anchor, will be moderating the event and Jenny Hallett, a Shatterproof ambassador who lost her daughter to alcoholism, will share her personal story.

Shatterproof is a national nonprofit focused on guiding communities, removing systemic barriers to recovery, mobilizing the country to advocate for change, and ending addiction stigma, and Shatterproof Treatment Atlas is a state-funded project. Treatment Atlas, a lifesaving solution that highlights high-quality addiction treatment options, will become available to help thousands of residents find addiction treatment that will meet their unique needs. The development of the Wisconsin section of Treatment Atlas is funded by a grant from the Wisconsin Department of Health Services.

A first-of-its-kind online platform, Treatment Atlas identifies all addiction treatment providers in the state, assesses their use of evidence-based best practices, and publicly displays the information to support those in need and their loved ones navigate to appropriate, quality care. Individuals across Wisconsin can use this free-to-the-public, confidential, best-in-class platform to take a user-friendly needs assessment that was developed in collaboration with the American Society for Addiction Medicine (ASAM) and search for care using robust filtering tools. Individuals can also search based on criteria such as location, use of best practices, types of treatment offered, accepted insurers, payment options, specialty populations served, and more.
