McKINNEY, Texas–(BUSINESS WIRE)–Today, District Attorney Greg Willis and his legal counsel Rogge Dunn released statements on the recent settlement of a 2022 lawsuit filed by six current and former Collin County employees.
District Attorney Greg Willis said: “It’s public record that plaintiffs previously dropped all claims of hostile workplace and sexual harassment. This came as no surprise to me, my wife and family, and those who know me best.
From the moment I released just a portion of the compelling evidence of my innocence at my press conference, it was inevitable that these claims would have to be dismissed, either by the plaintiffs or by the judge. This case only settled because an insurance company decided it was cheaper to settle now than pay lawyers to defend the case. No taxpayer dollars were used in the settlement, and all remaining plaintiffs had to resign.
My office is largely female-run. And that female leadership, who are familiar with all parties to the lawsuit, spoke out strongly in support of me, my 1st assistant, and our positive workplace culture.
I remain laser focused on the important work that the citizens of Collin County just re-elected me to continue for another four years.
On a personal note, my wife and I continue to be incredibly grateful to all those who have reached out with support and encouragement.”
Willis’ attorney, Rogge Dunn, added: “The plaintiffs dismissed their claims against DA Willis and all claims of sexual harassment. Given the compelling evidence in his favor, I was always confident DA Willis would be exonerated and expected the sexual harassment claims would be withdrawn or dismissed. Numerous female employees in the DA’s office supported DA Willis, which strengthened his defense.
This is purely a “defense costs” settlement on the part of the insurance company, which funded 100% of the settlement; and the plaintiffs still working at the County had to quit working for the County as a condition of the settlement. The settlement allows DA Willis and his office to now focus 100% of their energy on doing the job they love on behalf of Collin County’s citizens.”
