LOS ANGELES–(BUSINESS WIRE)–On December 12, the first World Film Industry Conference was organized by the sixth Sino-US Cultural Industry Summit at LOEWS Hotel in Los Angeles.

Several film producers and directors participated in the summit to openly discuss the future development direction of the film and television cooperation between the U.S and China, under the problem of the global economic recession, the declining film industry and the relationship challenges between China and the U.S. because of the epidemic.

Hai-Ge Wang, the founding chairman of the World Film Industry Conference, said that the film box office of China already surpassed the United States in 2018.

But in recent years, China’s film industry has been hit hard by various factors. This year, cinemas have been closed for 178 days, which is the longest closing date in recent years, many of which were closed due caused to losses and bankruptcies.

At the same time, the import of many Hollywood blockbusters has been blocked, and the box office of Chinese films has also declined significantly.

Rob Minkoff, the director of the famous animated film “Lion King” has visited China many times and shot the Sino-American co-production “The King of Kung Fu”, starring Jackie Chan and Jet Li.

When talking about China’s strict censorship system, he said: “In fact, censorship systems exist everywhere, but the standards are different in different places. At the beginning, my film “Lion King” was also subject to the rating review of the American MPAA. Although they did not ask me to modify it, they listed what would give us a stricter rating if it was not modified. In order to obtain a more user-friendly rating, we finally modified some violent content.” He believes that many overseas filmmakers may not know China well and have prejudice.

The World Film Industry Conference was co-organized by the Aollywood Film Workers Association and Lansion Media USA, assisted by the American Chinese Friendship Association, and strategically supported by the Aollywood First Product.

The theme of this year’s conference was “Dialogue across the Pacific from Hollywood to Aollywood”, which aims to find a way to revive the global film industry in the post epidemic era, and promote the exchanges and cooperation in the world film industry.
