“Models Wanted” will be released on June 16, 2023
New York, New York–(Newsfile Corp. – April 21, 2022) – “Models Wanted,” a featured film directed by Milly Ali that explores the dangerous and degenerate world of sex trafficking, is scheduled to be released in theaters on June 16, 2023.
The sex trafficking trade is a $150 billion industry that affects every country globally. There are an estimated 40 million victims of sex trafficking globally, and the vast majority are women and girls. In India alone, there are an estimated 4 million sex-trafficked victims. The plight of these women and girls is often invisible to the outside world.
But through the power of film, Milly Ali hopes to change that. “Models Wanted” will shed light on the issue of sex trafficking in the modeling industry and bring attention to the victims who are often voiceless.
“There is so much injustice in these foreign countries, where women have no voice or value,” said Milly Ali, who was also the film’s head writer. “Look at the injustice in Afghanistan, for example. A woman’s life is regarded as half as valuable as a man’s. Survivors of sexual assault often reform to internalize the experience. They fear social exclusion, backlash from the perpetrator and the prospect of worsening their circumstances. These girls never see justice, just humiliation as if it is their fault. Girls and women are looked down upon once they have experienced rape, leading many of them to go as far as to commit suicide because the family does not accept them anymore. It is a true tragedy.”
In addition to raising awareness about sex trafficking, Milly Ali also plans to start a nonprofit organization to help women from Bangladesh, India and other foreign countries who have migrated to America.
