Sanrio Co. Ltd. and Sanrio Entertainment Co., Ltd. (President and CEO: Aya Komaki, Tokyo) have entered into an agreement with VRChat Inc. (VRChat), a U.S. company that operates a social platform VR, to host the SANRIO Virtual Fes virtual music festival at Sanrio Puroland on December 11 (Sat.) and 12 (Sun.), 5:00 p.m.-10:00 p.m./B5 floor 7:00 p.m.-2:00 p.m. (JST). Gugenka Corporation and 0b4k3, the organizer of VR Club “GHOSTCLUB”, has been invited to be the overall directors of the festival.
The world’s first “SANRIO Virtual Fes in Sanrio Puroland” is a music festival where artists, virtual artists, and Sanrio characters will perform in a huge underground space on 5 floors. Various artists, including virtual artists such as Kizuna AI, Hatsune Miku, and Sanrio characters, will perform in the huge space that spans five underground floors. It will be one of the world’s largest metaverse events with a new sensation where everyone from Sanrio fans to advanced users can enjoy the music live and interact virtually.
SANRIO Virtual Fes in Sanrio Puroland can be easily enjoyed with smartphones, PCs, and other devices. You can immerse yourself in the virtual space by becoming a Sanrio character with an original avatar for this event. Hello Kitty ribbons will appear in the VRChat pay area as avatars high-five each other in the virtual space. During the live music performance, attendees will be able to enjoy the unique virtual performances as if the artist were standing right in front of them for an extra immersive experience. In the communication area, there will be a store selling original merchandise that is only available at this event.
The theme park and virtual space will be merged through this new Metaverse technology to create the “SANRIO Virtual Fes in Sanrio Puroland”. The company hopes that this will be a good opportunity for many people to familiarise themselves with Sanrio characters and visit Sanrio Puroland for real.
