BioSpyder Technologies, Inc. has been awarded a contract by the United States Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Center for Computational Toxicology and Exposure (CCTE) to perform High Throughput Compatible Gene Expression Profiling for Species of Ecotoxicological Relevance. This is a five-year contract with a maximum total value of $9.5 million. It is the latest in a series of contracts BioSpyder has received from EPA for HTT research since 2015. Three other contracts have been awarded to BioSpyder worth up to $5 million, $10 million and $25 million.
The contract to generate gene expression profiles for ecotoxicologically relevant species reflects the commitment of EPA to develop ecologically oriented screening assays that achieve high throughput. Large-scale gene expression profiling is considered both an important screening endpoint in itself and a tool to better understand how different wildlife and plants respond to chemical exposures in order to identify critical pathways and processes that are most important in a high-throughput screening battery. BioSpyder’s TempO-Seq assay has proven to be highly efficient and cost-effective in screening hundreds of thousands of samples using rapidly customizable panels from a variety of species and inputs.
