How to Store Vape Juices?

Vape juice prices typically range from $0.15 to $0.4 per milliliter. The cost can be up to ten times for superior brands and novelty flavors.

So, as a vapor, you want to savor every drop of your e-juice before the bottle runs dry. One way to reap maximum returns from your e-juice is to store the liquid properly.

Unknown to many vapers, various e-juice ingredients have their own shelf life. And specific components could go bad sooner than you can imagine. This underscores the importance of storing your vape juice in a manner that prolongs its shelf life.

How Long Do The Various Vape Juice Ingredients Last?

Many seasoned vapers prefer to purchase their vape accessories from vape hardware clearance sales. This is a smart move, considering the numerous bargains you can get at vape clearance sales.

But even if you’re lucky to have purchased your e-juice at the most affordable prices, it’s still important to store it under ideal conditions. Otherwise, the liquid may go bad, setting you back a few dollars.

Now, the shelf life of vape juice depends on the individual ingredients in the liquid. As you shall find, most vape juices contain base liquids (vegetable glycerin and propylene glycol), nicotine, and flavorings.

The following is a brief overview of the role of each of these components and how they possibly contribute to the degradation of vape juice.

  • Vegetable Glycerin (VG)

Vegetable glycerin is a clear, thick, and slightly sweet plant-based product that’s mostly added to e-juices to enhance vapor production. VG’s thick consistency makes the liquid remarkable at producing vapor. On the flip side, that consistency contributes to the gunking up of your vape coils and wicks.

VG is also known to deliver a smoother throat hit than other e-juice components. The throat hit is simply the feeling of vapor as it hits the back of your throat.

Now, the pure vegetable glycerin doesn’t go bad, provided that you store it in a cool, dry place and in an opaque container. Stored under ideal conditions, the liquid can last for at least two years. However, VG’s shelf life may be compromised when mixed with other ingredients, as is the case with e-liquids.

  • Propylene Glycol

Propylene glycol is a colorless, odorless, and thin petroleum-based product that’s most noted for its flavor-carrying abilities.

Due to its relatively thin consistency, PG doesn’t gunk up the internal components of a vaporizer. However, the liquid is infamous for causing throat irritation.

Pure propylene glycol doesn’t oxidize or go rancid if stored in airtight bottles and kept in cool and dark places. Just like vegetable glycerin, propylene glycol can last for at least two years under ideal storage conditions.

  • Nicotine

Nicotine is the most prevalent chemical that draws people to smoking, thanks to its addictive nature. It also happens to be the most popular vape juice ingredient.

However, not all vape juices today contain nicotine. The chemical’s popularity is now rivaled by other medically beneficial herbs like cannabis and kratom.

Nicotine is known to oxidize or ferment when exposed to the elements. Although pure nicotine may last for up to two years, it must constantly be kept in the freezer to prevent oxidation and fermentation.

  • Flavorings

Vape juice products come in various ingredients, ranging from fruity to vanilla, chocolaty, citrusy, to mention but a few. You can even opt for unflavored e-juices, especially if you’re trying to treat vaper’s tongue

Also known as vaper’s fatigue, vaper’s tongue refers to the inability to taste or smell certain e-juice flavors. It’s a common issue among heavy vapers, particularly those who constantly vape one base flavor.

Now, pure flavors have an indefinite shelf life. But if the flavors are too concentrated, over-refrigeration could re-crystallize them, exposing them to rancidity.

How Then Should You Store Your e-Juice?

Based on the shelf lives of the individual vape juice ingredients, it’s easy to work out a solid formula for storing your e-juice for maximum longevity.

Generally, vape juices last the longest when stored under conditions that inhibit oxidation and fermentation. And as you may have gathered by now, the primary agents of vape juice degradation include air, sunlight, moisture, and warm temperatures.

Therefore, the best way to store vape juices is in dark and airtight bottles to prevent oxidation from sunlight and air, respectively. The bottles should then be kept in a cool and dry place, preferably in your refrigerator or freezer. This will prevent the degradation caused by warm temperature and moisture.

But proper vape juice storage isn’t just a question of longevity. It’s also important to keep your e-juices out of reach of your children or pets.

While the various e-juice components may be safe to inhale, they could pose severe risks if ingested. So, always ensure that your refrigerator is out of bounds for your little kids and furry friends.

Storing your vape juice properly is one of the best ways to enhance the liquid’s shelf life as well as keep it safe from your near and dear ones. You can check best online vape shop near you for amazing stock.

Most vape juices come in dark bottles intended to block sunlight and UV rays that would otherwise degrade the components of the liquid. After every use, experts advise sealing the liquid tightly and storing it in a refrigerator to avoid oxidation from the air, moisture, and warm temperature.

If you find this process tedious, you can opt for the easier way to invest in vaporizers that come with single-use vape tanks.
