Why Responsive Web Design is Important to Business Owners

Do you remember when we first started viewing websites on smartphones or tablets? We either got a huge website you had to move all-around or a shrunken version of the desktop site that wouldn’t allow you to read anything. It was not a pleasant experience, to say the least.

What Did We Do

Back in 2015, Google started rewarding website owners who made their websites responsive. In other words, websites that worked just as optimally on the desktop as they did on a laptop, a tablet, or a smartphone. It was not an easy task for web designers. In some cases, they had to make a second website. However, in 2015, they mastered the responsive website, allowing a website to be more flexible and fit well on screen size.

Why Does a Website Need to Be Responsive?

To put it simply, we need to have websites that are user-friendly and can be seen from any device of any size. If you don’t have a responsive website, your brand could be losing sales. In fact, statistics show that almost 40% of users go to a competitor’s website when they don’t see a responsive site.

A responsive website changes its layout automatically depending on the screen size it detects. This is especially effective for mobile devices. The responsive website includes special design elements like:

Easily readable text

Adequate space to tap buttons or links

No need to scroll sideways.

It is critical to have mobile-friendly websites because there are billions of smartphone users, and more than a few do not have laptops or desktops.

Make sure your website offers mobile user-friendly service and is usable by mobile device or tablet users.

Advantages of a Mobile Responsive Web Design

The biggest advantage of a responsive layout is the fact that a user can get a wonderful experience from your website whether he is surfing on a smartphone or a desktop. It offers consistency, speed, and the best experience possible.

Another great advantage is that you streamline your content so that mobile users get the most important information.

The third advantage of course is that Google rewards you. The newest algorithm update allows responsive web designs to get better organic visibility on search engines.

How To Create a Responsive Design

There are several things the designer needs to do when creating a responsive design. He needs to consider and work on the following elements:

Flexible Text and Images

This is the way the text displays on different devices. The designer needs to make allowances for text size on mobile devices and larger desktop screens.

A Fluid Grid

A fluid grid gives the user the best experience no matter what device or size of the screen he uses.

 Flexible images

These types of images can be difficult because they can cause longer load times on small devices. However, if done correctly, the images can scale, crop, or even disappear depending on what the website needs to do.
