DataTribe Announces SightGain as Winner of Third Annual Cybersecurity Startup Challenge

FULTON, Md.–(BUSINESS WIRE)–DataTribe, the cyber startup foundry that invests in and co-builds next-generation cybersecurity and data science companies, today announced SightGain is the winner of the company’s Third Annual DataTribe Challenge.

SightGain is the only risk management platform that evaluates cybersecurity readiness. It automatically tests how well an organization’s technology, processes and personnel detect and prevent actual malicious attacks. As the 2020 DataTribe Challenge winner, SightGain will move forward in the investment process with DataTribe to receive up to $2 million in seed capital.

Based on its patent-pending capability to safely execute adversary exploits on production systems, SightGain first assesses an enterprise’s readiness posture – identifying the specific strengths and weaknesses in the live production environment. Then, it automatically quantifies an organization’s risk exposure, including potential financial loss, downtime, and data loss. Finally, it enables decision makers to identify the security investments to best defend against real-world adversaries, versus relying on assumptions and compliance checklists.

The DataTribe Challenge is a unique annual competition that brings together entrepreneurs from around the world in search of identifying technology startups with a vision to disrupt cybersecurity and data science. Previous winners demonstrate that the challenge is a catalyst for rapid business growth through the form of investment. Last year’s Challenge winner, Code Dx, has seen high growth since the company’s win and closing its seed round with DataTribe’s investment.

“DataTribe is pleased to announce our third annual challenge winner, SightGain,” said Mike Janke, co-founder of DataTribe. “SightGain’s continuous readiness platform is a possible game changer for cybersecurity organizations. We’re looking forward to helping SightGain bring this remarkable solution to the broader market.”

This year’s winner, SightGain, aligned with DataTribe’s mission to build world-class companies and advance the state-of-the-art in cybersecurity and data science. DataTribe has built a unique reputation as a partner with elite teams at the cutting edge of innovation, typically leveraging experience gained at national security agencies or government R&D labs.

“We’re honored to be selected as the winner of the challenge and are grateful to have worked alongside the team, judges, and stellar fellow startup founders behind the DataTribe Challenge, where only the best come to compete,” said Christian Sorenson, CEO of SightGain. “SightGain is looking forward to partnering with DataTribe’s industry experts and focusing on nation-state technologies that solve massive commercial pain points today.”

DataTribe invests up to $2 million at seed stage and provides an additional $1 million or more in in-kind services to commercial cyber and data science companies. To learn more about DataTribe and how to get involved, please visit: https://datatribe.com.
