The 2022 Acura MDX is an open secret at this point. First, it leaked online courtesy of Acura’s own infotainment system software. Then we got a preview of the 2022 MDX Prototype, which we’re quite sure is representative of the real thing. Now, however, Acura has announced the timing for the release of the actual 2022 MDX.
The new MDX makes its official debut on Tuesday, December 8 at 2:30 PM EST. The crossover is due to feature a number of new items we expect will trickle to other members of the Acura model line, too, including a digital gauge cluster. Look for a host of other luxury features from the MDX Prototype to make their way to the production model, including the Prototype’s 16-way adjustable front seats, LED ambient lighting (with 27 different schemes), and 1,000-watt ELS audio system with 25 speakers.
On the chassis front, the new MDX is due to feature a double-wishbone front suspension setup and a multi-link rear end. Power for the base MDX comes courtesy of Acura’s familiar 3.5-liter V-6, which should produce around 295-hp. The forthcoming MDX Type S, meanwhile, ought to utilize the same turbocharged 3.0-liter V-6 of the 2021 TLX Type S. Look for it to make north of 350 horses in Acura’s three-row crossover SUV.
The 2022 Acura MDX is due to go on sale in early 2021 with a starting price that exceeds the current MDX’s $45,525 cost of entry. Keep an eye on the space below to watch the 2022 MDX debut on December 8.
