Iconic surf-inspired Southern California mainstay moves into sports and entertainment center of the world

LOS ANGELES–(BUSINESS WIRE)–#basketballWahoo’s Fish Taco – the fast-casual restaurant with Southern California vibes and globally inspired food – is pleased to announce its new stand at the Los Angeles STAPLES Center. Located on the Main Concourse next to Section 117, Wahoo’s is ready to wow fans with its eclectic Mexican-Brazilian-Asian menu favorites including crispy fish tacos, loaded nachos, bowls, churro chips and more.

“It’s truly a privilege to be part of the STAPLES Center world,” says Wing Lam, co-founder of Wahoo’s Fish Taco. “We have built our brand around great food while supporting a wide range of entertainment and sporting events around the globe. To be able to do it in our own backyard with the Los Angeles Lakers, Clippers, Kings and Sparks, as well as world-class performers, is an opportunity of a lifetime. We couldn’t be more excited.”

Wahoo’s Fish Taco joins Salt & Char, Blaze Pizza, Cooler by Budweiser, Dave’s Doghouse, Deli & Dash, EATS, Figueroa Bar, Golden Road Brew House, Goose Island, Impact Sports Bar & Grill, Ludo Bird, Outtakes, Tap Haus, Tostitos Nachos and Wetzel’s Pretzels at the iconic venue that celebrates its 20-year anniversary this year.

“At STAPLES Center, it is our top priority to ensure that every guest who enters our venue has an incredible experience from the moment they arrive until the event is over, and part of that experience includes the diverse and amazing food options we offer throughout the arena,” says Lee Zeidman, president of STAPLES Center, Microsoft Theater and L.A. LIVE. “Having a Southern California institution like Wahoo’s Fish Taco partner with us here just reinforces our commitment to bringing diverse and local food options to our fans. We look forward to working with Wing Lam and the entire Wahoo’s Fish Taco team.”

Over two decades, STAPLES Center has established itself as the sports and entertainment center of the world. As the home of four professional sports franchises—the NBA’s Los Angeles Lakers and Los Angeles Clippers, the NHL’s Los Angeles Kings and the WNBA’s Los Angeles Sparks—STAPLES Center has proven to be a home-court advantage for the local teams. STAPLES Center is also renowned for bringing international stature to the downtown Los Angeles venue with concerts such as Taylor Swift, Beyoncé, U2, Paul McCartney and Justin Timberlake among others, as well as world championship boxing, family shows and special events.

Inspired by their successful patriarch father, an immigrant who opened the first Chinese restaurant in Newport Beach, California, Wing and his brothers Ed and Renato “Mingo” Lee, started Wahoo’s with a single taco stand for surfers. Three decades later, it has grown into a national brand with over 60 locations across the U.S. and Japan. Wahoo’s was recently invited by the James Beard Foundation to host a historic dinner commemorating its 30th anniversary.
