MONTEREY, Calif.–(BUSINESS WIRE)–#Advancedonion—Advanced Onion, Inc. (AO) has enjoyed incredible success, with help from California’s Employment Development Department (EDD) employing qualified veterans, making AO a proud, one of three employers and the only coastal employer statewide featured in EDD’s 2019 Veterans Day campaign.
“We’re primarily a government contracting company,” says company founder/CEO, Paul Temple. “Because of the type of business we do, AO finds value in the experience that veterans bring to the table, as well as their work ethic,” explains Temple. “I think our veteran relationships have been a key part to our success.”
Earlier this year, AO was recognized with a California Employer Advisory Council Veterans Employer of the Year Award. Each year CEAC and EDD “honor employers who consistently demonstrate positive policies toward U.S. Veterans in hiring and promotion… employee retention, ongoing training and benefits.” Now, EDD highlights AO on their 2019 Veterans Day web page, which includes valuable information, resources and video success stories like AO’s collaboration with One-Stop Career Center of Monterey County, EDD’s partner.
AO is led by 21-year Army Veteran Paul Temple, retired Chief Warrant Officer III, with a unique blend of veteran and civilian employees aiding AO’s vision to become a leader of emerging technologies in identity, intelligence and analysis. Veteran Seth Gibson, Senior Project Manager at AO, completed 21 years in the US Marine Corps, serving mostly as a Helicopter Pilot. Gibson points out that the transition from military to civilian life isn’t always easy.
“The transition is quite scary…,” Gibson explains, “however, the transition eased at the Insider Threat Summit through networking that Paul Temple and Mia Medeiros, Event Director, facilitated. Additionally, based on Paul’s understanding of my background I was able to be placed in a position at AO that fit my skillset and education. Paul also informed me about the change in mindset from military to corporate structure. AO’s primary business supports DoD, so the transition was hastened by leveraging my military experience within an organization dedicated to supporting the same community.”
After success in his military and industry careers, Paul continues to serve as a mentor to veterans in Monterey’s community and beyond. He and Seth humbly assist with the “government to industry transition” by providing insightful direction to those who seek it.
