Two-day events in Pittsburgh, Seattle, and New Orleans will bring K-12 leaders together to advance STEM education in districts and schools
HOUSTON–(BUSINESS WIRE)–#NGSS–The National Institute for STEM Education and Accelerate Learning, a global leader in STEM education, today announce three new STEMposium events to help K-12 leaders strategically plan for and support STEM initiatives that lead to high performance in districts and schools. The two-day events will be held Nov. 18-19 in Pittsburgh, Dec. 10-11 in Seattle, and Jan. 23-24 in New Orleans.
Each STEMposium will feature keynote speakers Dr. Rodger Bybee and Peter McLaren, nationally recognized leaders who have made significant contributions to science education for more than 40 years, and Dr. Kenn Heydrick, a K-16 STEM advocate at the state and national levels who is now the national STEM manager at Accelerate Learning. They will discuss topics such as STEM standards and reform strategies, a 2020 vision for STEM education, and the future of STEM.
In addition, participants will attend breakout sessions on topics such as strategic planning to develop a STEM initiative, creating a STEM instructional sequence, using Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS) practices, and empowering 21st century skills. Participants will also have the opportunity to network and hear local STEM success stories.
