Rochester Police Department Celebrates 200 Years and Mayor Lovely Warren Introduces New Chief of Police La’Ron D. Singletary at Rochester Police Foundation’s Annual Blue and Gold Gala.

ROCHESTER, N.Y.–(BUSINESS WIRE)–The Rochester Police Foundation (RPF) hosted its Annual Blue and Gold Gala on September 13th, 2019 at the Wintergarden, at Legacy Tower, where it introduced the new Chief of Police, La’Ron D. Singletary and celebrated 200 years of the Rochester Police Department.

Over 800 of Rochester’s business, civic, and cultural leaders attended the charitable event which raised more than $150,000 and was sponsored by the University of Rochester, Harris Beach PLLC, Kessler Real Estate Group, The Summers Foundation, Tompkins Realty & Lending, Rochester Regional Health Systems and Giovanni & Cindy LiDestri.

Mayor Warren introduced and honored the new police chief at the event. “For two centuries, the Rochester Police Department has protected and served this community with dedication, integrity and bravery,” said Mayor Lovely A. Warren. “With the unwavering support of the Rochester Police Foundation, our officers continue to uphold these timeless values each and every day to achieve excellence in public safety and law enforcement. I am honored and humbled to stand with the men and women of the Rochester Police Department, the Rochester Police Foundation and the citizens of Rochester as we celebrate the 200-year anniversary of this esteemed agency.”

Chief of Police La’Ron D. Singletary, was promoted to head the department on April 17th 2019. He is the youngest chief in the department history.

The gala included a live and silent auction. All proceeds go to community and youth outreach programs, equipment and training to support RPD operations and assistance to families of fallen officers.

“Almost all of the RPF donations go directly to putting the police and community together and supporting our men and women in blue,” said Tim Tompkins, President of the Rochester Police Foundation.
