Keyes to use unique insight into the needs of health plan customers to facilitate payer – provider collaboration
SALT LAKE CITY–(BUSINESS WIRE)–#carecoordination—Collective Medical, delivering the nation’s most effective network for care collaboration, today announced the appointment of Michael Keyes as vice president of health plan business development. In this role, Keyes is focused on deepening the ways in which payers collaborate with providers to identify and together support the full population including our nation’s most vulnerable patients.
Collective is partnered with every national health plan and serves payers across all lines of business, including Medicaid, Medicare, Medicare Advantage, Administrative Services and commercial. Health plans work with Collective to identify and manage complex, vulnerable patients, and to support those members identified with rising risk factors. In a recent analysis of data from the Collective Medical network:
- A review of commercial health plans, each with more than 500,000 members, showed a systematic, sustained reduction in total ED encounters for all members under the age of 65 between 3.6 and 6.6 percent two years after those organizations joined the Collective network.
- In a review of Medicaid health plans that have implemented and used Collective over a one-year period, data shows a 2.3 to 6.6 percent reduction in ED encounters with a total estimated savings of $6.1 million. These savings include only directly avoided ED visits and exclude other associated impacts.
- Importantly, these reductions in medically-unnecessary ED utilization were made possible by, and corresponded with, providers being able to direct their focus on, and deliver better, more personalized care to, their high-need patients.
Recently, Collective was rated five out of five stars by the Medicaid Black Book as a top vendor partner for Medicaid health plans.
Keyes joins Collective from 3M Health Care, where he served as a health plan engagement leader for nearly five years. “I’ve been impressed at how Collective is uniquely able to bring together health plans and provider care teams for real impact on outcomes” says Keyes. “Collective allows health plans to participate in complex patients’ care teams in real-time and to provide valuable perspective exactly when it’s needed. I’m proud to be working at a company that is truly disrupting the way we look at healthcare.”
At 3M Keyes worked closely with hospitals, government agencies, and managed care organizations, and was responsible for developing new strategies to accelerate growth while managing more than $10 million in accounts. He joined 3M from WellCare Health Plans as an operations manager. Prior, Keyes supported patients clinically over ten years as a licensed physical therapist, and also ran a physical therapy facility for Saratoga Hospital.
“Collective exists to bring care teams together for the benefit of complex and vulnerable patients—health plans are an essential part of these care teams,” says Chris Klomp, CEO of Collective Medical. “Michael intimately understands the needs of health plans and the opportunities through which they can better support patients and the providers who care for them. His expertise aligns well with Collective’s objective of finding common areas of collaboration which concurrently benefit plans, providers, and patients. We’re delighted to have him join our team to help us drive deeper collaboration.”
