LOS ANGELES–(BUSINESS WIRE)–The Los Angeles Business Journal today published its list of the “2019 Top Litigators in Los Angeles” naming Ervin Cohen & Jessup Co-Managing Partner Barry MacNaughton and Litigation Partner Michael D. Murphy. Of the more than 350 nominations, only 50 professionals were ultimately selected. The list, according to the publication, includes those lawyers who “go to the proverbial mat to fight for their clients.”

Recently, MacNaughton secured a more than $90 million verdict for an investment firm defrauded on tenant performance in its shopping center acquisition from a power center developer. As lead trial counsel, MacNaughton held the developer accountable through to verdict, securing one of the largest verdicts in Los Angeles County in several years.
Murphy was recognized for his work on matters involving corporate governance disputes, breaches of fiduciary duty, fraud, defamation, the anti-SLAPP statute, trademark and trade dress litigation, among others. Just last month, Murphy obtained, on appeal in the State of New York, an attorney fee award of more than $1 million against the media outlet Blaze Media, which amount was added to the prior $1.8 million damages judgment previously obtained against Blaze Media, arising from a contract dispute with one of its prior premier talents.
