David L. Cohen to Receive Greater Philadelphia Area Leadership Award

PHILADELPHIA–(BUSINESS WIRE)–#Comcast–Roman Catholic High School will recognize David L. Cohen, Senior Executive Vice President and Chief Diversity Officer of Comcast Corporation, for his philanthropy and generosity to the region with the school’s 28th Annual Greater Philadelphia Area Leadership Award. The Award Presentation will be made at the Union League of Philadelphia on Thursday, October 17, 2019.

The Greater Philadelphia Area Leadership Award honors distinguished philanthropists who serve as examples of generosity and service throughout the Delaware Valley. Recipients are recognized as leaders who continually make the most of their personal achievements, influence, and success to transform the region into a better place. Roman Catholic High School’s founding father, Thomas E. Cahill, was a visionary and philanthropist of this magnitude. Past recipients of the GPALA included Shirley & Vernon Hill, Constantine Papadakis, Former Governor of Pennsylvania, Ed Rendell, Willard Rouse and many distinguished others.

David currently serves as Chairman of the Trustees of the University of Pennsylvania and as a member of the Trustee Board of Penn Medicine. Before joining Comcast in 2002, he served as a partner in and Chairman of Ballard Spahr Andrews & Ingersoll, LLP, and also as Chief of Staff to former Philadelphia Mayor Ed Rendell from 1992 through 1997. David serves on both the Board of Directors and the Executive Committee of the Greater Philadelphia Chamber of Commerce, and is a member of the Chamber’s CEO Council for Growth. He is an Honorary Chair of Campus Philly’s Board of Directors, and is Chair of the Philadelphia Theatre Company. David is a member of the United States Semiquincentennial Commission. He also serves as Chair of the national board of City Year, as well as on the national board of the National Urban League and is Chair of the Corporate Advisory Board of UnidosUS. David is a native of New York and a graduate of Swarthmore College and the University of Pennsylvania Law School.
