Murgitroyd was selected as the leading patent law firm out of a list of 142 firms that offer patent attorney services such as drafting, filing, prosecution and strategic counselling in Europe. The list was generated from company websites and the EPI (The Institute of Professional Representatives Before the European Patent Office) by research from Statista.
Firms were ranked by 3 categories: 1. Gold (Very Frequently Recommended), 2. Silver (Frequently Recommended), 3. Bronze (Recommended). Unlike any other firm in Europe, Murgitroyd received gold recommendations in all six sectors: Biotechnology & Food & Chemistry, Pharmaceuticals, Electrical Engineering, IT & Software, Materials and Nanotechnology, Mechanical Engineering (see table attached).

The Financial Times survey was sent to 7,500 patent attorneys and 2,500 patent specialists via an individual link only to be used once. A total of 2,727 participants answered the survey that was conducted between February and April of 2019. The selection was based on recommendations made by clients and peers.
