OLDWICK, N.J.–(BUSINESS WIRE)–Stephen A. Irwin, managing director, credit rating criteria, research and analytics at AM Best, will discuss the rating agency’s draft criteria procedure on innovation at the National Council of Insurance Legislators’ (NCOIL) 2019 Summer Meeting in Newport Beach, CA, on July 12, 2019.
Irwin will lead a presentation, titled, “Measuring the Immeasurable? A Discussion on AM Best’s Proposal to Score and Assess Insurer Innovation,” during the Financial Services and Multi-Lines Issues Committee meeting, which begins at 9:00 a.m. PDT. He will discuss AM Best’s plan for evaluating an insurer’s level of innovation and to what extent that evaluation ultimately will impact the measure of an insurer’s financial strength. AM Best’s draft innovation criteria procedure was released in March 2019.
Irwin is primarily responsible for coordinating the development and dissemination of AM Best rating criteria and the associated analytics. He also oversees the industry research and economic analysis groups that are responsible for the creation and distribution of industry research and economic analysis in support of AM Best’s credit ratings and criteria, for the purposes of publication.
