NEW YORK–(BUSINESS WIRE)–Blackboard Insurance (“Blackboard”) today announced that Uwe Schoberth
will join the team to focus on market relationships and the company’s
expanding go-to-market strategy.
Over the last two years, Blackboard has been reimagining commercial
insurance, building a tech-enabled, data-driven and analytics-ready
ecosystem focused on serving the middle market. Uwe will apply his
expansive background in the commercial insurance industry to enhance
Blackboard’s connection with brokers in this market to help their
clients better manage risks and reinvest for growth. Uwe has held many
global, international and domestic market-facing roles developing and
overseeing business development strategies for more than 25 years.

Uwe joins Blackboard from QBE Group, where he served as Global Head of
QBE Market Management since the beginning of 2019. He previously was
Global Head of Major Trading Partner Engagement. Before joining QBE
Group in February 2014, Uwe was Managing Director, North America for XL
Insurance. He joined XL Insurance in 2001 following its acquisition of
the Winterthur International Insurance Company (WI), where he served as
branch manager for its Chicago operations. Prior to his tenure at
Winterthur, Uwe was the Regional Manager for the Gerling Group’s Chicago
office. He began his career in International Casualty Underwriting at
Gerling in roles based in Cologne, London and New York.
Uwe is a former officer in the German military and holds a Master of
Science degree from Southern Connecticut State University. He is also
Vice Chairman for the German American Chamber of Commerce of the Midwest
and Chairman for German American Events, LLC.
