Foundation supports Canadian Red Cross in partnership with United Way
Worldwide
SAN FRANCISCO–(BUSINESS WIRE)–Wells Fargo & Company (NYSE: WFC) announced today it will donate
CA$25,000 ($20,000) to United Way Worldwide in response to thousands of
Canadians being forced from their homes as heavy rains and spring thaw
cause flood evacuations in the province of Quebec.
Wells Fargo is among 10 financial institutions joining to support the
Canadian Red Cross.
“We’re saddened by the flooding’s devastation and want to help victims
recover,” said Richard Valade, regional president of Canada for Wells
Fargo. “Working with United Way Worldwide, this donation supports the
incredible work by the Canadian Red Cross in communities where our team
members live and serve our customers.”
Wells Fargo employs more than 700 team members in Canada across 23 lines
of Wholesale Banking businesses who serve commercial customers in the
Canadian cities of Calgary, Mississauga, Montreal, Toronto, Vancouver,
and Quebec City.
In 2018, Wells Fargo donated $444 million dollars to approximately
11,000 nonprofits. Wells Fargo team members also donated 2 million hours
of volunteer work in 2018. For the 10th consecutive year, the
United Way Worldwide recognized Wells Fargo in February as the No. 1
workplace giving campaign in the U.S.
