Ingram Micro Adds Xilinx Accelerator Cards to Portfolio

Ingram Micro named a primary distributor by Xilinx for U.S. solution
provider channel; Channel partners now have greater access and
enablement resources to market, sell and support new Xilinx Alveo
accelerator cards

IRVINE, Calif.–(BUSINESS WIRE)–lt;a href=”https://twitter.com/hashtag/AI?src=hash” target=”_blank”gt;#AIlt;/agt;–Enabling channel partners to enhance performance in key data center
applications including machine learning inference, video processing,
genomics and data analytics, Ingram
Micro Inc.
today announced it has been named a primary distributor
by Xilinx Inc., the leader in adaptive and intelligent computing.

Under terms of the new go-to-market agreement, Ingram Micro becomes the
first broad-based IT distributor to offer Xilinx’s new Alveo data center
accelerator cards portfolio to channel partners throughout the United
States. As a result, channel partners are now able to purchase and more
readily deploy Xilinx technology with industry standard servers,
ultimately optimizing the solutions for customers’ shifting data center
workloads, new standards and evolving algorithms.

Available now, the Xilinx Alveo portfolio delivers significant
performance advantages in key data center workloads, including real-time
Artificial Intelligence (AI) inference, video processing and database
search. The accelerators also increase adaptability as workloads evolve
because they can be reprogrammed, unlike fixed function accelerators.

“Adding the Xilinx Alveo portfolio to our linecard allows data center
solution providers to address their customers’ most demanding data
center workload challenges, like video processing, AI inference, data
analytics and high-performance computing,” said Ryan Grant, vice
president, Integrated Solutions at Ingram Micro. “We are excited to work
with Xilinx as a primary distributor of its Alveo portfolio and offer
them access to Ingram Micro’s growing base of data center solution
providers, VARs and complementary server platform vendors including Dell
EMC and Supermicro to deliver the most complete data center solutions to
end customers.”

Grant explains that data center acceleration has been primarily
CPU-based, but “with the slowing of Moore’s law, explosion in data and
the rise of AI, computing has evolved to embrace a mixed compute model.”
This new model includes accelerators such as GPUs, FGPAs and ASICs, all
of which offer significant performance increases over CPU alone.

“We’re seeing strong customer interest in Alveo accelerator cards across
a broad set of data center applications,” said John Lonergan, vice
president, global channels, Data Center Business Unit, Xilinx. “Adding
Ingram Micro’s broad reach and expertise in helping solution providers
deliver advanced solutions for the data center will allow Xilinx to
address this high-growth opportunity through a significant new route to
market.”

The Alveo U200, Alveo U250 and Alveo U280 accelerator cards are powered
by Xilinx UltraScale+ FPGAs, which allow customers to reconfigure the
hardware, enabling them to optimize for shifting workloads, new
standards and updated algorithms without incurring replacement costs.
