MARKHAM, Ontario–(BUSINESS WIRE)–lt;a href=”https://twitter.com/hashtag/CAF?src=hash” target=”_blank”gt;#CAFlt;/agt;–Leading defence and military magazine, CANADIAN
DEFENCE REVIEW
, has just released its annual survey and ranking of
Canada’s defence companies.

With its recently acquired stake in the Canadian-developed A220
jetliner, Airbus Defence & Space Canada, is now this country’s biggest
aerospace player but the company has been quietly operating here for 35
years and with this move it now leaps 23 places in CDR’s annual survey
all the way to the # 1 position.

2019 marks the fifteenth year of CDR’s Survey and Ranking of Canada’s
Top Defence Companies and in announcing this year’s rankings,
Editor-in-Chief, Peter Kitchen, commented, “With the selection of Airbus
as our # 1 company, we are recognizing the important role that Airbus
now plays and will play in the future in Canada’s aerospace and defence
community.”

In commenting on the Airbus selection, Simon Jacques, President, Airbus
Defence and Space Canada, said, “On behalf of Airbus in Ottawa, we’re
thrilled to have been selected as Canada’s top defence company for 2019.
Today’s announcement is a wonderful way to help celebrate Airbus’ 35th
year in Canada.”

Jacques added, “We’re looking forward to growing our already substantial
cooperation with the Government of Canada and Canadian suppliers towards
even greater success enhancing jobs, economic benefits and capabilities
for our Canadian Armed Forces.”

CDR’s Kitchen remarked, “This is the first time for Airbus at the # 1
position but with its stake in the A220, its role in supplying the C295
for FWSAR and its important work on other DND projects, we expect to see
the government call on the various capabilities of this innovative
defence player in the years ahead.”

There have been ten new companies added to the CDR survey this year,
showing Canada’s defence industry is vibrant and growing.

An evaluation panel consisting of CDR editorial staff and independent
advisors ranked the companies based on factors such as economic impact,
innovation, contribution to the nation’s security, corporate integrity
and support for Canada’s military.

With the publication of its annual Top 75 Defence Companies Survey &
Ranking, CDR’s goal is to showcase Canada’s defence industry and all
that it has to offer.
