FORT WORTH, Texas–(BUSINESS WIRE)–First Command Financial Services, Inc. is proud to serve as a Gold Level
sponsor for the 2019 Armed Forces Insurance Military Spouse of the Year®
Award, continuing its long history of supporting the wives and husbands
of career service members.
The annual award, which was established by Military Spouse
magazine in 2008, has honored hundreds of military spouses for their
advocacy and support within the military community. This year’s honorees
include Kristie Rigdon, a First Command Financial Advisor and the 2019
base winner representing Fort Richardson. She will be among the many
spouses, community leaders and military friendly employers who will be
attending or recognized at the Town Hall on May 8 and awards ceremony on
May 9 in Washington, D.C.
“First Command is honored to support this award in partnership with
Armed Forces Insurance, which also serves as the property
and casualty insurance provider for our clients,” said Scott Spiker,
chairman/CEO of First Command. “Our commitment to military spouses is
underscored by the recognition that these women and men are the key
financial decision makers for their families and face unique challenges
in finding and maintaining meaningful employment because of frequent
moves. The Military Spouse of the Year® Award offers
yet another opportunity to support the causes that matter to our
Nation’s military families.”
As part of its sponsorship activities, First Command will also be
recognizing military spouse entrepreneurs. The company will be
presenting the 2019 military branch winners with gifts it purchased from
several spouse-owned businesses.
The First Command Advisors and support teams in our local offices have
been hosting military spouse appreciation events where they recognize
nominees and base winners. Several of this year’s nominees are First
Command Advisors. They include Kellie Jones Kuhar for MacDill AFB, Dina
Becker for Camp Lejeune, Olivia Inglett for the Virginia National Guard,
Heather McKinstry for NAS Oceana, and Monica McKenna for the Fifth Coast
Guard District.
