VANCOUVER, British Columbia–(BUSINESS WIRE)–FINCAD,
the leading provider of enterprise solutions for multi-asset derivatives
and fixed income portfolios, is pleased to announce its 2019
Women in Finance Scholarship contest is now accepting applications.
The goal of the scholarship is to acknowledge outstanding women in the
field of finance, particularly those pursuing careers in financial asset
management, market risk management and derivatives finance within the
capital markets.
FINCAD CEO and President, Bob Park, established the scholarship program
in 2014. This year he has doubled the award, bringing it to a US$20,000
award opportunity. “Traditionally careers in finance and the capital
markets have largely been occupied by men,” Bob commented. “While more
women are entering these careers than in the past, there continues to be
a gender gap. Particularly in the middle to senior level management
finance jobs, there is room for greater gender diversity. With this
scholarship, we are hoping to help level this imbalance through giving
one qualified woman the necessary financial support to further her
education and ultimately attain a rewarding career in the fast-growing
field of derivatives finance.”
In an interview, the recipient of last year’s Women in Finance
scholarship award, Monica Carrasco, stated, “My home country of Bolivia
is not a wealthy nation with an abundance of opportunity. I realized
early on that dedicating myself to learning and receiving a quality
education were factors that would enable me to pursue my dreams and
really be anything I wanted to be—despite my humble beginnings.” Once
Monica completes her education, she plans to continue her work as a
Finance professor. She also aspires to achieve a leadership position in
a financial institution based in Bolivia.
FINCAD’s US$20,000 Women in Finance scholarship opportunity is open to
women of any age and citizenship. Eligible candidates must be studying
finance in a graduate-level program at an accredited institution and
must be pursuing or planning to pursue a career in asset management,
financial market risk management or derivatives finance. Complete
application packages are due on or before June 30, 2019. Further details
are available at www.fincad.com/womeninfinance.
