BabyCenter® unveils new baby names app

If you are a Sophia or Jackson, Congrats. Your name is still among the popular names. Sophia and Jackson remain the popular names even in 2018. BabyCenter®, a top pregnancy and parenting digital resource, has released the top names of 2018 on the eve of the launch of its new baby names app. Jackson leads the boys’ name for the sixth straight year, while Sophia dominates girls’ list for the ninth consecutive year.

If you are looking beyond, Sophia and Jackson, well, the app helps to find the name. “Sophia is the dominant girls’ name of the decade, with no signs of slowing down,” says Linda Murray, BabyCenter’s Senior Vice President of Consumer Experience and Global Editor in Chief. “It has worldwide appeal, it’s pronounceable in multiple languages, and it’s feminine and sophisticated all at once. As for Jackson, it’s a modern twist on the old classic Jack.”

Murray adds: “Parents are inspired by the things they love as well as the sound of a name. In the past, we’d look to the Bible or royalty for name inspiration. Today’s parents turn to other sources. We’ve had two decades plus of ‘unique’ names, and anything goes. It’s not like the days when every other baby was named Jessica, Jason, or Jennifer.”

The new app draws strength from 20 years of baby names data and uses analytical tools to suggest names that suits your preferences. One can create one’s own list of names and match with that of the partner to find common entries. The meaning and origin of the names are quickly available in the app also.

So, finding a baby name of whatever style is no more a headache, provided you have the right app on your mobile.
