Acutronic Robotics’ MARA is the centerpiece of Xilinx’s stand H5-158 at SPS IPC Drives 2018 in Nuremberg
The first modular cobot with the Robot Operating System (ROS 2.0) running into each of its actuators, sensors and other modules, will hit the market and be ready for purchase worldwide from the 10th of December at www.acutronicrobotics.com. MARA’s (Modular Articulated Robotic Arm) modularity works through the H-ROS SoM, the hardware device that makes any robot part compatible and interoperable with others, regardless of its vendor.
Making robot parts modular, the H-ROS SoM greatly simplifies and reduces the time spent in the integration phase, the largest bottleneck in robotic development today. Xilinx has helped integrate its TSN solution in this innovative solution.
Collaborative robots are critically dependent upon real-time motion control for speed, accuracy, and safety. Xilinx’s TSN solution, with Zynq SoCs, manages the deterministic Ethernet-based communication capabilities used across H-ROS SoM modules in a multi-axis cobot.
Built out of individual modules that natively run ROS 2.0, MARA can be extended just by adding robot parts. The system is also scalable: from one module to even hundreds of them plugged together. This empowers new possibilities and applications in the professional landscape of robotics.
