We know the need is great and some of our neighbors feel uneasy as fall turns to winter. For some, colder weather can mean a struggle affording higher heating bills or reconnecting gas service. This year, Spire is helping customers through early availability of our most lenient payment plans, which are designed around the Missouri Cold Weather Rule.
“We want to help as many customers with their natural gas service as temperatures drop. We are excited to offer more payment options to customers earlier than previous years,” said Dave Williams, director of customer experience for Spire.
Help is available now. Here’s a look at some of the options and plans available:
- Payment plans: The Cold Weather Rule provides the most lenient payment plans available for customers. Plans are available Nov. 1 – March 31, but Spire is offering Cold Weather Rule payment plans early this year to help customers stay warm. Customers can call Spire today to see if they qualify and sign up.
- State and federal funds: Funds are available for customers based on income level, age and disability. Funds for elderly and disabled customers are available starting Nov. 1. Funds for income eligible customers are available starting Dec. 1. Please reach out to your local community action agency to start the application process today.
- DollarHelp: Funds are also available through DollarHelp. Many Spire customers donate $1 a month on their utility bill to help neighbors in need. And Spire matches $150,000 every year to help the communities we serve. These funds are available now through local agencies.
- Budget billing: Every customer can take advantage of budget billing, which helps ease the crunch of higher winter bills by spreading out costs over a 12-month period.
