Construction begins this week on an 11-mile I-680 Express Lane from just south of Marina Vista Ave. in Martinez to Rudgear Road in Walnut Creek, establishing a continuous southbound Express Lane through Contra Costa County. The $127 million project includes expansion of the southbound freeway through Walnut Creek and conversion of the existing carpool lane from Marina Vista Ave. to North Main Street. The Contra Costa Transportation Authority and the Metropolitan Transportation Commission invite reporters to attend a groundbreaking event and to learn more about the Bay Area’s growing Express Lane network.
