Minister of State Carroll MacNeill publishes 2022 Ireland for Finance Progress Report

 

Following recent consideration at Government, Dr Jennifer Carroll MacNeill TD, Minister of State at the Department of Finance with special responsibility for Financial Services, Credit Unions and Insurance has published the 2022 progress report of the Ireland for Finance Strategy.

The Progress Report provides an update on the 11 action measures that were due for reporting last year under the Ireland for Finance strategy. The actions were focused on the five themes of the strategy which are fintech, sustainable finance, diversity and talent, regionalisation and promotion and operating environment. According to estimates from the IDA and Enterprise Ireland, employment in the international financial services sector reached a new high of more than 56,000 people working in a range of activities within the sector.

Some notable achievements in the 2022 progress report of the Ireland for Finance strategy, include:

  • the launch of Ireland’s Women in Finance Charter – an industry led initiative
  • the delivery of the European Financial Forum
  • the development of the educational consumer resources to support consumers to engage with fintech
  • the establishment of Ireland as an EU hub for insurtech

Commenting on the publication of the Progress Report 2022, Minister of State with responsibility for Financial Services, Credit Unions and Insurance, Dr Jennifer Carroll MacNeill, said:

“Last year was a busy year for the international financial services strategy with the Update to Ireland for Finance launched last October. Good progress was made on the 2022 actions. My focus is now on delivering further on the agreed outputs for 2023 as part of the Ireland for Finance Action Plan 2023 as well as focusing on identifying the key areas where both the public and private sector can work together so as to make further progress in deepening the international financial services footprint within the Irish economy for the year ahead.”
