Highpoint Virtual Academy Students Ready to “Click On” for the 2019-2020 School Year

MESICK, Mich.–(BUSINESS WIRE)–Highpoint Virtual Academy of Michigan (HVAM), a statewide online public charter school, challenges families to look to the future, as students and teachers get ready to log on and start the 2019-2020 school year on September 3.

Delivered entirely online, and authorized by Mesick Consolidated Schools, HVAM offers a personalized approach to learning, delivering rich, engaging curriculum designed to assist students who seek alternative pathways to education.

Students receive the support and resources needed to reach their academic goals, and access programs and courses which allows HVAM students to learn in an environment that meets their unique needs and best fits their lifestyle.

To help students with their future, HVAM is the only online school in Michigan to offer the first fully virtual Early Middle College (EMC) education option. In this tuition-free, three-year public-school program, students participate in an integrated sequence of high school and college courses beginning in 11th grade and continuing through an extra 13th year of study, during which time students focus on college-level courses.

EMC students have the opportunity to earn an associate degree, the Michigan Early Middle College Association (MEMCA) technical certification, or up to 60 transferable college credits—all while earning their high school diploma.

“High school is the perfect time to begin thinking about your future,” said Mary Moorman, HVAM Head of School. “The EMC and dual enrollment programs are designed to give Michigan students a leg up on their future career, provide them with opportunities they didn’t know they could do, and maybe even reduce student debt by completing some college courses while still in high school.”

“I’ve been working with students on their college applications and course planning at HVAM and its great to see the students come alive when talking about their futures,” said Tahani Dari, counselor at HVAM.

Students who choose online school are often pursuing advanced learning, seeking a highly supportive learning environment, and/or need the ability to support extracurricular pursuits or medical considerations. And HVAM’s dedicated faculty work tirelessly to encourage their students.

More information on HVAM, EMC, dual enrollment, how to enroll, and a schedule of upcoming events can be found at hvam.k12.com. An online orientation – required for new HVAM families, will take place September 25th. Applications are due for current 11th graders no later than Wednesday, September 18th.
