Navy Federal Names Deputy Chief Information Officer

VIENNA, Va.–(BUSINESS WIRE)–#NavyFederal–Today Navy Federal Credit Union announced that Stephen Rice has been selected to serve as the credit union’s deputy chief information officer (DCIO). Rice previously served in the same role for the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), and will report directly to the credit union’s recently promoted chief information officer Tony Gallardy.

Previously, Rice served 16 years at the DHS with his most recent role being the DCIO. In that role, he oversaw the management, security, and sharing of DHS technology. Prior to stepping into the DHS DCIO role, Rice served in the Transportation Security Administration, first as DCIO and Deputy Assistant Administrator, then as CIO and Assistant Administrator for the Office of Information Technology.

Rice’s experience at the DHS began in the U.S. Secret Service (USSS), where he played both intelligence and technical roles. In his nearly decade-long tenure with the USSS he managed data communication teams for several Secret Service protection events, and assisted with management of telecommunications for both presidential conventions. Rice is joining the Navy Federal team who was recently named a Computerworld 2019 Best Place to Work in IT for a fifth consecutive year.
