The biggest self-bag-drop facility in the world has started functioning at the Denver International Airport (DEN) in the USA. The renovated ticket counters in the airport will boast of the mammoth self-service equipment.
The facility is powered by the solution from self-service specialist company called Materna US. DEN and the builders who renovated the airport chose Materna for the sophistication, security and flexibility the self-service solution offers. The new facility is expected to help in handling the tremendous projected growth in passenger traffic.
The implementation of the Materna self-bag-drop systems is a substantial part of the DEN DEN Great Hall project that is expected to cost $650 million. The self-bag-drop system will include, when it works in its full capacity in 2020, 176 hybrid self-bag-drop units and 40 check-in kiosks. DEN is currently increasing its capacity significantly and investing in technology to help serve approximately 80 million passengers per year in future. Originally, the airport was designed to handle 50 million passengers. The planned expansion also focuses on improving airport security and further improving the passenger journey and experience.
