New survey reveals interesting details about digital transformation of midsized businesses

 

US-based professional network Spiceworks has conducted a survey among IT decision-makers in midsized businesses to find out details about their digital transformation efforts. The study, commissioned by CenturyLink, Inc, a global communication provider based in the USA, was conducted among IT decision-makers in firms that employ 11-50 staffs. It revealed that 53% of IT decision makers at businesses are engaged in or planning their digital transformations.

“Midsized businesses are increasingly adopting a digital business model, but still face challenges,” said Vernon Irvin, president, government, education, medium and small business, CenturyLink. “With limited resources and budgets, midsized businesses are looking for networking solutions providers to deliver a reliable infrastructure capable of supporting the evolving technology landscape, as well as solutions that can help save time and money.”

The following are the key-findings of the survey”

For midsized businesses engaged in transformation efforts, top projects include:

  • Backup and disaster recovery, 55%
  • Retiring and upgrading legacy systems, 50%
  • Workflow automation, 50%

Current constraints to digital transformation include:

  • Budget, 58%
  • Limited time and staff, 57%
  • Competing IT priorities, 35%
  • Resistance from end-users and internal business decision makers, 34%
  • Limited skill and expertise, 31%
